An active noise-control device: Esion is the new Enterprise of the e-Novia Group, developed in collaboration with the Milan Polytechnic to meet the acoustic comfort needs of people in work and living spaces.

The latest evidence* released by the World Health Organization on health and noise pollution confirms what has already been understood for some time: 20% of Europe’s population lives and works in areas with noise levels capable of compromising the psychophysical abilities of individuals (this figure is destined to double by 2030).

Noise pollution, especially in the workplace, is now a widespread problem at European level and managers and HR officers may just be called to limit its consequences.

It is a problem that often affects productivity: whether the noise comes from office machinery, urban construction or the voices of colleagues (or family members, if we are talking about remote work), the constant interruption of work activities can lead to poor concentration, an increase in blood pressure and, more generally, an increase in stress levels.

Today, the annual growth forecast of the world market for soundproofing products for environments stands at +4.5% in the period 2019-2025. However, currently available soundproofing solutions, such as insulated cabins, often have limited “coverage”.

To meet these needs, e-Novia’s Elite Innovators has created Esion (a name that comes from inverting the word noise), an active broadband noise-control system, operated by an optimized algorithm. Positioned anywhere in the room, Esion generates a “three-dimensional silence zone” that reduces the noise of the surrounding environment, ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of users.

In the near future, the company aims to orient its business not only towards the “traditional” office market but also towards the new frontiers of remote work, which see the creation of often improvised and not very functional workstations that require adequate acoustic insulation capable of guaranteeing the wellbeing of workers.
