The Product

The company’s first product is Sixto, the sixth robotic finger, a wearable grasping technology that can enhance hand ability and support everyday live activities. As a wearable light manipulator with a single degree of freedom, Sixto can create a hybrid grasping between the body and the robotic finger. This way, the device can perform different functionalities, as augmenting the grasping ability of the hand, adding an intelligent holding point on body, becoming a wearable tool by a personalization of the ending module of the finger, or extending the grip away from the hand in potentials dangerous environments.

How Does It Work?

On a technical level, the patented solution behind Sixto is related to a wearable robotic finger whose kinematic chain, based on an alternation of rigid elements with collapsible elements actuated by a single motor, is capable to adapt its grip to objects of different shapes and sizes. The finger can be remotely controlled through multiple possible control devices in accordance to users’ specific needs, starting from a ring in the opposite hand, to a muscles control through EMG arm bands.

Aims and Next-Steps

The goal of Existo is to introduce the light wearable technology in different market segments, with a unique value proposition.  As a medical application, Sixto can become a multi-use assistive device to recover hand functionality promoting independence in daily living. In the industrial segment, it can be a wearable dynamic tool that defines an active human hybridization for better working conditions.
