Existo

Existo designs and manufactures light wearable technologies to augment human capabilities in daily living. The company's first product is Sixto, the sixth robotic finger, a wearable device for augment hand capability.

The Product

Sixto,the sixth robotic finger, is a wearable multi-use assisted device that promotes independence in daily living with a compensation of grip loss, where users can regain their hand capabilities partially or completely and, at the same time, have their well-being improved by feeling autonomous again. As a light exoskeleton device, Sixto can support both long and short term hand trauma through at homerehabilitation.

How Does It Work?

The robotic finger has a configuration that alternates rigid supports with soft junctions driven by an internal tendon that provides the movement of the whole finger. This particular configuration allows the finger to better adapt to the grip of objects of different shapes and sizes, controlled remotely by the user through a ring or EMG band, selected according to user needs.

Aims and Next-Steps

User centered design approach is at the basis of research and development of Existo and its wearable devices like Sixto that is developed in collaboration with patients and therapist of rehabilitation clinics. Sixtowas recently awarded through social and ethical initiatives such as “CariploCrew” powered by CariploFoundation and “MoreThanDIS” powered by Accenture Foundation.
