Blubrake, the scale-up that is revolutionizing the concept of safety in the world of e-bikes, has announced the collection of a new funding from Progress Tech Transfer. The fund launched by MITO Technology acquired a 3.7% stake in the Enterprise. In fact, it has a well-defined focus and an open technological connotation, as it aims to make investments in technologies and companies oriented towards sustainability and, specifically, towards the macro-segments of environment and energy, new smart materials and services, foodtech and agrotech.

This is a further step forward in the expansion path of the Enterprise, which is preparing to serve an increasingly broad portfolio of international customers, thanks to the development of new technological products for light mobility.

Blubrake has developed the first and only ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) for e-bikes and s-pedelecs that can be fully integrated into the frame and the first and only ABS for e-cargo bikes on the market. The system intervenes to significantly improve braking – 58% of accidents involving e-bikes occur precisely in this situation – and in two specific conditions: on slippery ground, by controlling the wheel to avoid locking, and on high-grip terrain, to prevent the bicycle from overturning. Blubrake ABS drastically reduces the two phenomena, making the cycling experience safer.

«We have chosen to invest in Blubrake with the Progress Tech Transfer fund», said Francesco De Michelis, CEO of MITO Technology, «because it is a scaleup perfectly in line with our goal, that is to encourage the development of technologies and intellectual property by Italian research centers and companies that aspire to respond to the need of sustainability».

Founded in 2015 in Milan, Blubrake employs over thirty professionals from the automotive world. The company has patented twelve braking technology solutions for light electric vehicles. Blubrake’s mission is in fact to develop innovative products that make these vehicles safer and more intelligent, to facilitate the transition towards a sustainable mobility. To date, the company has collected total investments of over nine million euros from institutional investors, with investments aimed at the development, marketing of products and internationalization.

«The investment of the European fund Progress Tech Transfer makes us proud and confirms, once again, the value of Blubrake on international markets», said Fabio Todeschini, co-Founder and General Manager of Blubrake, «for us the operation it is also important for the vision we share with Progress Tech Transfer: to increase sustainability through the development of new technologies».

The e-bike market expects a growth rate of over 60% over the next four years. In this context, Blubrake aims to make ABS a safety standard for all light electric vehicles, thus facilitating the transition to light, sustainable and accessible mobility for all. ABS Blubrake has been chosen by some of the most important European e-bike manufacturers: Bulls, the German leader in e-MTBs; Crescent, a reference brand in Scandinavian countries; Trefecta, renowned manufacturer of designer super-bikes; Stromer, leader in the S-Pedelec sector, e-bikes capable of reaching forty-five kilometers per hour; and Bianchi, an Italian brand that has decided to equip five models of the e-Omnia family with ABS.

«Progress Tech Transfer’s investment in Blubrake technologies takes place in a strategic area for e-Novia: the development of vehicular robotics», declared Vincenzo Russi, co-Founder and CEO of e-Novia, «a decisive area for the market and for society, as it responds to a rapidly growing demand: that of new security solutions, performance, and new ways in which people can interact with vehicles».
