EMBEDDED LINUX DEVELOPER

The Candidate will join the Embedded Design Team and will support the activities concerning the embedded Linux development using Yocto build system. The Embedded Linux Software Engineer will be responsible for developing software in a Linux environment for innovative home automation, multimedia and IoT applications and will be able to work as an independent team member, capable of applying judgment to plan and execute the assigned tasks.

The ideal Candidate has an Electronic or Computer Science Engineering Degree and has proven experience with Linux platforms, Yocto and its related tools. The successful candidate will show an aptitude for software development and team communications.

Activities:

  • Develop embedded software for a Linux environment using C/C++

  • Design software specifications

  • Support project planning efforts including task definition and work effort.

Technical & ICT required skills:

  • Experience with an open source Linux build system such as Yocto or Open Embedded

  • Expert level of understanding of Linux applications on embedded devices

  • Experience with Git or similar version control system

  • Socket programming

  • Ruby, Python, or similar scripting language knowledge is a plus

  • Domain knowledge in streaming multimedia service delivery

  • Domain knowledge in home automation or internet of things

  • Domain knowledge in Wi-Fi networks

  • Ability to lead others by example

  • Excellent attention to details

  • Well-developed critical thinking capability to evaluate completeness of requirements

Other skills and characteristics:

  • 3/5 years’ experience in the role

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

  • Stress resistance, organizational autonomy

  • Attitude to problem solving

  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and autonomy in finding solutions and workarounds

  • Enthusiasm and team spirit
