The home delivery company foodora (part of the Delivery Hero Group operating in over 40 Countries) and the international telecommunications operator Tele2 continue to test home deliveries with 5G technology in central Stockholm together with YAPE.

YAPE has been chosen by the two international companies to deliver food to an audience of selected customers. The service aims to be the answer to the increasingly pressing demand for customer security, through a low touch delivery system capable of canceling proximity and contact with other people, especially in this delicate historical moment and in compliance with the most stringent international provisions for the fight against the pandemic.

The YAPE drone, renamed #Doora for the occasion and embellished with a graphic design that leads back to the well-known foodora home delivery service, is connected to the 5G network of Tele2 (perception, communication and the ability to interact with space are also guaranteed with other types of connection, such as 4G and Wi-fi). It can thus perceive the surrounding environment, communicate and move adaptively in space. #Doora has also installed a sensor system that sends information in real time to foodora, allowing it to track and trace the robot and quickly send data to and from the drone.

The drone, already tested in the city center of Stockholm, in the Stureplan district, can carry both food and other products up to a weight of 10 kg. The service offered by foodora and Tele2 through the YAPE #Doora drone will continue throughout spring 2021.

The foodora branded YAPE drone has been selected by the World Economic Forum among the “three groundbreaking bots” destined to change the world of delivery in a video published to introduce and launch its international event, the Global Technology Governance Summit.
