# Urban Mobility Data: Why the Right Data Matters More Than the Volume

What is Blimp and how does it work?

Blimp is the e-Novia group venture specialized in analyzing urban flows through artificial intelligence. Its technology, called HeadCounter, uses computer vision to measure the real-time passage of people and vehicles in indoor and outdoor environments, including streets, transport hubs and shopping centers. The data collected becomes useful information for those deciding on traffic flow, safety or space planning, in line with the claim the company uses to present itself on the market, "Good data, better decision."

What is MOBIDAYS in Milan?

MOBIDAYS is the first edition of a city-wide event promoted by the Municipality of Milan together with AMAT, dedicated to urban mobility. It ran from September 16 to 22, 2026, with over thirty events spread across the city, including public panels and discussions open to institutions and companies in the sector. Among the main appointments was the panel "Digitalization for Mobility" on September 18 at the Castello Sforzesco, which Blimp, an e-Novia group venture, also took part in.

Why does data matter for urban mobility?

Data helps cities understand where and when mobility issues concentrate before an intervention is even made, and to verify whether an intervention such as pedestrianizing a street or changing traffic flow actually worked once it was carried out. Different sources, from field sensors to telco data, offer complementary readings of the city, and the right choice depends on the goal of the decision being made.
