Today the automotive industry is mastered by completely unpredictable forces and dynamics, the acceleration of which is calling into question many beliefs, even dating back to a few years ago.

One of the most important innovations in this field, autonomous driving, is radically changing the scenarios relating to the appearance and ownership of the vehicle. As a result, its business model is evolving, enabling the transfer of a substantial part of the value to the software and therefore to the algorithm.

e-Shock, historically the first of the companies of the e-Novia Factory, enters this market with an unprecedented European proposal, thanks to the strategic-industrial partnership with the Finnish Sensible 4. It is one of the largest software companies in Europe of all-weather autonomous driving, whose products allow autonomous driving in adverse weather conditions, such as snow and rain.

The Italian-Finnish collaboration will offer direct suppliers of the automotive brands, the so-called Tier1, the best integrated mechatronic solutions for vehicle performance control, safety and robotization. Solutions that will be equipped on board one of the e-Shock solutions: Rob.Y, the robotic platform for professional vehicles, used for example in logistics and road cleaning, and for advanced mobility solutions.

Based on the proprietary system of sensors and Dynamic Cortex algorithms, Rob.Y is the first digital chassis to offer, in “ready to market” mode, the best possible experience with the highest standards required for autonomous driving, from safety to robotization. It is aimed precisely at those customers who have not yet reached a high level of development of autonomous driving systems on their own.

The platform, now enriched with Sensible4 sensor solutions, is preparing, starting from May, to perform the first on-road calibrations, pilot tests and the first passenger transport service with completely autonomous driving within the Living Lab for Future Mobility Solutions of the European Commission Joint Research Center (JRC) in Ispra (Varese). Thanks to the quality and quantity of the adopted solutions, the first Rob.Y demonstrator will already be able to operate with the highest safety standards in any condition.
