E-Novia, the challenge of being born big

“Just Born. Already Big”. The challenge of being born big. This is the slogan chosen by e-Novia to report the events of the last year, and above all to illustrate new goals to an audience of highly qualified entrepreneurs. Results and new horizons which on Wednesday the 14th of March represented two sides of the same coin, two aspects which coexist in the Enterprise Factory. Born just three years ago, e-Novia managed to grow immediately into an established organisation in the Italian and international industrial landscape, giving rise to 20 enterprises in which e-Novia has either a controlling or non-controlling interest, with a team of over 80 engineers and designers.

«We’re extremely happy to share the extraordinary experience of the last twelve months of the company with you» said the CEO Vincenzo Russi, speaking on stage to the journalist Luca Barbieri. «But we feel more pride showing you our future and the future of our enterprises. A future that, for many of these companies, is already the present. The challenges that lie ahead of us are fascinating, and at the same time they instil in us a sense of enthusiasm and responsibility like never before», he added. It is no coincidence therefore that the slogan of the event was “What a time to be in e-Novia!”

The numbers

Included by the Financial Times in the ranking of the 1000 fastest growing European companies over the past three years, e-Novia’s numbers continue to be impressive, from earnings to investments to new staff employed, as well as the number of companies and new patents. The numbers projected on the slides at the event were also impressive: with growth of 90% compared to 2016, the Milanese joint stock company closed 2017 with a turnover of 5.8 million euros, 7.4 million euros of investment, the number of employees in the team rose to 80, with 20 new companies created, and 26 international patents filed. All this in just three years. “Just Born. Already Big”, exactly as the slogan says.

Lines of development

The lines along which the Enterprise Factory has developed methodically and precisely in these three years are the Smart FactorySmart Transportation and Mobility as a Service. Sectors which together with the constant cooperation with polytechnics and universities, will be accompanied in 2018 by the creation of solutions in the field of MedTech Innovation, a field which is ever more present in the minds of those who design the future.

The new companies

Born and developed strictly along the lines of lightness, speed, and precision, as Vincenzo Russi reminded us by quoting Italo Calvino’s American Lessons, e-Novia’s enterprises, of which there will be 25 by the end of 2018, will therefore increase the number of development paths for the Milanese Enterprise Factory. This will result in an ever richer and ever more strategically important portfolio. During the event “Just Born. Already Big” nine new projects were announced; three in partnership with important organisations in the field of Italian innovation (Weart, Stem, Myair) and another six which are the result of the exclusive creativity of the Enterprise Factory. Among the latter, there is BluGyro, the bicycle stabilizing and balancing system, BluGear, the automatic gear hub for bikes, e-Shock, the intelligent suspension system, BluAgro, the smart decision support system for agriculture, BluVending, the predictive management system to help coffee machine providers, and BluPublishing, the management platform for the book market.
